Before you consider adopting, fostering or even buying a bunny....

At Alabama Rabbit Rescue we love to play matchmaker to help you find your new furry friend!

 

We also feel it is very important that you learn as much as possible about how to care for your rabbit before you get one.  Bunnies have very specific needs - and behaviors -  that can be time-consuming, expensive and, at times, very frustrating.

If you are thinking about adopting, fostering or buying a bun, we suggest you start by visiting our "Learn" page. While rabbits make wonderful pets, they are a major commitment and - often end up being neglected, abused or abandoned because the owner was ill prepared.

Fostering a rabbit

Fostering is a wonderful way to enjoy the company of a rabbit without having to make a long-term commitment.  And, it so satisfying to be able to give these wonderful little creatures the love and attention they may have missed out on before being rescued.

 

Fostering a rescued rabbit in your home also helps us make room for newly rescued bunnies needing critical care, those with special medical conditions or those awaiting surgical procedures.

Adopting a rabbit

Thank you for your interest in providing our sweet bunnies a safe and loving home!

 

Bunnies are one of the cutest and sweetest pets on the planet.  But, sadly, we are contacted every day by people who no longer want their rabbits because they purchased them impulsively from a pet store or breeder without knowing ahead time the type of special care and commitment rabbits require.

 

Since our rabbits are homeless now, we want to to make sure that this next move is a forever home and that you are ready for this commitment before you adopt.

 

As part of our approval process, we will ask you to:

  • Learn as much as possible about rabbit care before contacting us about adoption.  Our Learn page on the website is a great place to start!

  • Check out our PetFinder page to meet the bunnies that are ready for adoption.

​​

  • Review our adoption process and complete our adoption application. 

 

Once your application is received and reviewed, we will contact you to arrange a follow up visit to our rescue facility so you can meet our bunny babes!
